Jasmine Centre - Leaky Roof 'Hub' to be

Cardiff Council want to shoehorn quash in library services into to the Jasmine Centre - a really
The ugly Jasmine Centre

bad choice as that building resembles an industrial unit with gaudy red shutters and the the Energy Performance Rating  (just issued for period to June2013) is
Average rating, in "D-band" 76-100,

the bulding
well below top A rating <25, as well as B and C.    ?? tCO2/year
Uses gas for heating, a lot of electricity (twice as much CO2), zero renewable power.
Just over 1000 m² This makes the Jasmine Centre expensive to run.

Many roof leakages; car park  frequently over-full

The small space allocated to the library
Labour Cardiff Council want to create a ‘community hub’ which means moving services such as housing and benefit advice, library services, advice for job seekers, opportunities for learning. They suggest that the services of partners such as Citizen Advice and Want to Work and the police could also be included in the Hub. This means they could close the present housing office in Grand Ave next to the library and make money after demolishing them both by selling the site.

The book corner 'library'
The only and last question in the ‘consultation’ about this says services WILL be located in the Jasmine centre  and asks if you agree?
The Jasmine centre has already got problems with car parking and Treseder Way a quiet road and park behind will become a busy highway. The building will not have room for all these services so the future plans are half baked.

People in Splott are also fighting a similar cuts plan to amalgamate services in a ‘hub’

Jasmine centre has a lot of outstanding work needed.

As well as the leaky roof the Jasmine centre has a lot of outstanding work needed.
Not the best place to move a library and other services to and or save money.
